so you're actually going to make me poke around for an actual quote....
Hokey dokey, for todays quote I'm going with the initial bonus pack press release
Quote:
Guild Wars Nightfall Bonus Key, providing one additional character slot for a Guild Wars Nightfall account, as well as two exclusive items for the new professions—a Firey Sunspear of Shelter for the Paragon and an Icy Soulbreaker of Enchanting for the Dervish

-The very specific wording saying "one additional character slot for a Guild Wars Nightfall account" conveys to me that you need the full retail version. What esle would constitute a Nightfall account? I also think Gaile might have commented on it at some point but I don't feel like digging that much......

i had figured they would add the 'starter kit prerelease package' character slot immediately so that nobody cries when (if?) they do the pve preview...
that is... IF there is a preview event!
otherwise, I dont really need the slot right away anyways.
thats how my logic sees it. (unless we get a quote that says otherwise)
On a side note:
Im sure the dances/heros that we havent seen yet ARE in fact done-> ANet is just very smart not to show them yet ANYWHERE (probably the main reason they had the generic npcs during the Germany hands-on that weve gotten all these pictures from)
They know that everyone is very very excited to see the dances... they will make us wait.
what i mean is:
(even if there is a preview event, dont expect to be able to dance yet or see the heros for what they really look like)

actually you will have to have the Nightfall retail key already entered before you can do the bonus slot at all.
before yelling think a moment if they do it any other way.
you enter the bonus Nightfall key and a empty unusable slot appears on your login screen waiting for a retail key to be available.
you dont get Nightfall and ask them to remove that empty slot taking up space on the screen and they tell you that we cant remove it from your account and you burn every time you see that empty slot when you log in.

The dances were in for the factions PvE, so I think that they will be in for Nightfall.

If you preorder in say a best buy, can you preorder the CE specifically? Or would that be something only a Gamestop would do?

If you actually walk into a Bestbuy, they don't actually reserve it for you. They'll take the cost of the preorder off the final package(not sure with the new fangled prerelease pack) but they don't actually hold a copy for you, you have to go grab it off the shelf yourself. Yes, from the gamestop site you can specifically preorder the CE or the CE+prerelease pack starter bundle

I am assuming the following:
Buy preorder bonus pack- 1 extra slot to be added when you buy Nighfall and add the key in.
Buy Nightfall and play unlinked as a standalone - 4 slots.
Buy Nightfall and link it to your previous chapter accounts - X(your existing no. of slots) +2 slots.
It better be X+2 or more, or Anet can launch Nightfall into the depth of space for screwing their own fanbase if they learned nothing from pre-faction release discussions.

you dont have to assume any more as they stated weeks ago that you get 2 linked plus the bomus slot on the prerelease if you buy that.
so yes you get 2 linked slots and 3 if you add the prerelease THATS 3 LINKED SLOTS WITH THE PRERELEASE
